Notes historical bibliographic

Bruno Gambone was born in Vietri sul Mare (Salerno) on October 18, 1936. He approaches the world of ceramics for a short time, at the age of 14 in the atelier of his father, Guido Gambone. Towards the end of the fifties, always remaining in the Tuscan capital Florence, he collaborated in the manufacture of Andrea D'Arienzo. Determined to work and establish himself independently, he also dedicated himself to other artistic experiences such as fabric decoration and painting on canvas. His first exhibition of paintings dates back to 1959 at the Galleria La Strozzina in Florence. In 1962 he moved to the United States and settled in New York for 5 years. Here he attended artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, making numerous experiences in the field of painting, sculpture, cinema and theater. After five years he returns to Italy. Milan is the city where he chooses to reside. In the Lombard capital he came into contact with various artists such as Enrico Castellani, Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, Agostino Bonalumi and Gianni Colombo. He then continued this experience in some Venetian workshops by designing a series of furnishing objects such as lamps and coffee tables. He also became interested in goldsmithing, designing jewels during the Milanese period (1968). He came back to this sector at the end of the seventies, giving rise to a series dedicated to fantastic animals, taking up patterns already used also in his ceramic production. Bruno Gambone is a member of the National Council of Ceramics and a member of the Geneva Academy; for a decade he was President of the ASNART Association of the C.N.A. Today he is Honorary President. In 1997 he took up the position as Artistic Director of the National Award of Ceramics of Vietri sul Mare (Salerno).

To broaden his artistic framework, he decides to specialize in other artistic fields, such as fabric decorations and painting on canvas. In Milan he comes into contact with some artists, such as Enrico Castelleni, Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, Agostino Bonalumi and Gianni Colombo.
